Dolla was killed on May 18th at around 3:10 p.m, 2009 while he and another rapper, DJ Shabbazz, waited outside the Beverly Center, an upscale shopping center in Los Angeles after a shopping trip. There are plans to release a post-mortem album titled "So you wanna be a Gangsta?"[4].
Dolla was arguing with another man about a gay man, police officer Karen Reyner said the victim and the gunman had been arguing before the attack. After the shooting, the gunman fled in a silver Mercedes-Benz. Later that evening, a suspect was detained at the Los Angeles International Airport
